清明节是中国二十四节气之一，也是最重要的传统祭祖节日。但在民间，清明同样意味着一件简单而美好的事——踏青，趁着春光出门走走。这个词最早见于唐代诗文，白居易有句”逢春不游乐，但恐是痴人”，说的就是清明前后该出门享受春天。

家里其他人已经先出发了，我晚一天才动身，心里一直记挂着赶紧和爸妈会合。高铁从合肥南一路向东到溧阳，赶上了爸妈在天目湖御水温泉的最后一天。四天里没有什么大景点、没有什么特别安排，只是陪着爸妈在湖边慢慢走、在溧阳翻翻老县志、在巢湖姥山岛一起吹吹风——这样的日子，多一天都觉得宝贵。

Qingming — Clear and Bright — is one of China’s 24 solar terms and a major day for visiting family graves. But in everyday life it also marks something simpler: taqing (踏青), literally “treading on the green,” the tradition of going outdoors to enjoy the first real spring. The Tang poet Bai Juyi put it plainly: “To meet spring and not go out for pleasure — that would be a fool’s choice.”

The rest of the family had already left; I followed a day later, itching to catch up. The high-speed train carried me east from Hefei to Liyang, and I made it just in time for my parents’ last day at the Tianmu Lake hot spring resort. Four days with no big sights and no plan — just walking the lakeshore with them, flipping through an old county gazetteer in Liyang, and sharing the wind at Gushan Island on Lake Chaohu. Every one of those days felt like a gift.

关于清明 / About Qingming

清明节的历史可以追溯到两千五百多年前的周代。最初它只是一个农事节气——“万物生长此时，皆清洁而明净，故谓之清明”——到了唐代，它与寒食节合并，逐渐成为祭祖、踏青、放风筝的综合性节日。2006年，清明节被列入中国首批国家级非物质文化遗产名录。

The Qingming festival dates back over 2,500 years to the Zhou dynasty. It began as a purely agricultural marker — “all things grow clean and bright at this time, hence the name Qingming” — and merged with the older Cold Food Festival in the Tang dynasty, becoming a day for sweeping graves, taking spring walks, and flying kites. In 2006 it was added to China’s first national intangible cultural heritage list.
